"KALM symbolizes the sense of peace that comes after the excitement of harvest. We are a boutique winery that strives to make great wine in small batches that are best enjoyed with great company."
— KENNETH ALLEN & LINDSEY MALIA

THE WINEMAKER
Kenny Strauss
Kenny's wine career began early, helping with a family friend's home winemaking project — a spark that led him to study Wine and Viticulture at Cal Poly. During his time there, he worked for Kenneth Volk, Orcutt Road Cellars, and Clesi, and in 2014 was hired as the Cal Poly winemaker.
After graduating, he traveled to Argentina to work a harvest at Viña Cobos in Mendoza — one of the country's most celebrated estates. He eventually returned to Calistoga, where his love of winemaking had first taken root. Since then, he's worked harvests at Jericho Canyon Vineyards, served as Cellar Lead at Clos Pegase, and spent six years as Assistant Winemaker at Red Car Wine.
KALM is the next step — making the wines that inspire him most, in small batches, from the land he knows best.
THE HEART OF KALM
Lindsey Strauss
Lindsey grew up in Calistoga, surrounded by vineyards and wine culture from her earliest years. Her parents farmed five acres of Cabernet Sauvignon on Diamond Mountain and produced their own small label for about a decade — but Lindsey's own path led her toward health science and a career as a registered nurse in the operating room.
Then she met Kenny. The idea of creating their own wine label grew naturally from their life together. It started with their wedding, where Kenny crafted a custom blend they bottled and labeled — combining their initials to form KALM. The name stuck, and so did the dream.
When Kenny's parents planted Petite Sirah and Sauvignon Blanc at their Calistoga home, the first official KALM vintages were born.
